Campus Recreation Center will host a ribbon cutting for both facilities will be Sept. 1 at 4 p.m. on the shaded lawn between the Campus Recreation Center and Champion’s Choice. Food sampling and tours will follow.
Users of the Campus Recreation Center will see the most change in the fitness area that has tripled in square footage and features a high-tech cardio floor with:
- Cable TV
- On-demand content
- More than eight miles of data cable.
This means users can download music or content from their iPod to view on TV, watch music videos, NFL football, or Seinfeld re-runs. Campus Recreation Center also features an indoor running track, theater-style cycling studio, new gymnasium, personal training suite, and student workroom. The facility averaged 2,000 visitors per day before construction and plans to see about 3,000 per day.
After a workout, students can walk across the lawn to Champion’s Choice and nosh on a variety of nutrition-focused offerings that include pre-workout high carb meals, low-fat, high protein meals, healthy comfort foods, and fresh salads and sandwiches. Diners can also download the nutritional content on one of ten iPads in the facility, and dine on eco-friendly dinnerware made of bamboo.
