This morning our department hosted a local NBC reporter, Patricia Naegle, and camera operator, Eric Wiese, into our facility to record a segment that will be aired later this week on NBC’s Today Show. USF student, Heather Mallard, who is an avid Today Show Fan, was interviewed about why she loves the Today Show, and how the technology available at Campus Recreation allows her the opportunity to watch Today while exercising. All of this is to help promote the Today Show’s 60th anniversary on NBC. The segment will air either Thursday, January 12th, or Friday, January 13th, during the Today Show.
USF Campus Recreation is being listed as one of the top technological schools for health and fitness, due to the large quantity of Technogym cardio equipment and our use of the Visioweb network. Many of the pieces of cardio equipment at USF Campus Recreation allow users to connect to the internet, watch cable TV, play multimedia games (such as solitaire and mahjong), or connect to their personal entertainment library through their iPhones/iPods.
Other opportunities for students to use technology during their workouts include USF Campus Recreation’s new Fit2Go Exercise Library, which is available on our website and in iTunes U, free of charge. In addition, USF Campus Recreation will be adding online Group Fitness Classes, along with a new Group Fitness Class registration process available on our Lobby Kiosks.
USF Campus Recreation has also begun a partnership with Legacy Champ, The Social Fitness Network. By joining the USF Campus Recreation group our memberships can create and track fitness goals, create workout groups, and compare workouts with other Legacy Champ users.
