Men’s Volleyball Club Eager to Compete

Standard

USF Sport Clubs recently added a new team to its growing list of offerings. The Men’s Volleyball Club is ready to make USF proud by representing the University throughout the state.

Jack O’Rourke, president of the club, has passion and experience for the sport and was committed to making the club official.

“I always played volleyball in high school and I found out they didn’t have a program here.  We’ve gotten some other people involved and we’ve started from there,” said O’Rourke. “We’re starting from the ground up, but we’re excited.”

While O’Rourke can’t guarantee immediate success from the Men’s Volleyball Club, he can assure the team will give it 100 percent.

“We want dedicated members who want to be there and have fun. We want to have a team oriented organization that gives its best effort every time.”

While no tournaments have been scheduled, the club has plans to compete against other schools in the state.

“I’ve been talking to schools like FSU, UF, UCF and even FIU to see if we can participate in their tournaments,” said O’Rourke. “We also want to start running our own tournaments and events as well.”

O’Rourke invites anyone who enjoys volleyball to come out and play with a club that is committed to making everyone on the team better.

“If you have a strong passion to play volleyball, I always want anyone who wants to play to come out. We don’t deny anyone membership if you’re not a strong player, and we will always help you in any aspect of the sport.”

Practices are from 8:00 – 9:45 p.m. on Mondays and from 10:00 – 11:45 p.m. on Wednesdays in the Campus Recreation North Gym. Interested students can register to be a part of the Men’s Volleyball Club at https://orgsync.com/108690/chapter.
