This Thanksgiving don’t just give thanks, give back and get fit with BullsFitsgiving!
BullsFitsgiving is a timed, challenge course event where teams of 4 people compete to win cool prizes.
The obstacle course takes place Nov. 16, but the event itself starts much earlier. Prior to the race, teams can bring donations of non-perishable food items, hygiene products, and gently-used clothing to REC 111 during normal business hours. Each item donated will earn points that will shave precious time off a team’s total obstacle course time. There are three donation categories: clothing, non perishable food items, and hygiene products. Earn up to 15 seconds off your team’s challenge course time by donating an item of each category. Participants are encouraged to get their friends to donate on behalf of their team as well. Donations will be accepted until 5:00 p.m. on Nov. 15th.
All of the food products collected will be donated to the Feed-A-Bull food pantry on campus, this on-campus pantry provides supplemental food to USF students in need. Since its launch in September 2015, Feed-A-Bull has given out more than 9685 pounds of food and served 15-20 students per week. Clothing and hygiene donations will be given to Metropolitan Ministries, a local organization that provides help for the homeless and those at risk of being homeless. Each year, Metropolitan Ministries serves about 25,000 families in Hillsborough, Pasco, Pinellas and Polk counties. The donations received will be used to help families get back on their feet and return to self-sufficiency.
Make a difference this holiday season, get some friends together and form a team! Have fun in a friendly competition right before everyone parts ways for Thanksgiving break. Registration for the event is opens Nov. 2nd and spots are limited. Can’t participate but still want to donate? Just bring your items to REC 111!
